Career Transition Coaches
So What Is Career Coaching?
Career coaching involves conversations. We may have you take some personality based tests to get a baseline understanding of what is going to be the most fulfilling career or to just get a direction to move towards, based on certain personality features, but coaching is about finding fulfillment. It's not about finding the best paying job (although it definitely can include that) or getting the most impressive position, unless that is what is most fulfilling to you. Career coaching is about finding out how you want to spend the rest of your working life, whether you are just graduating from college, are considering a mid-career transition or are having to work through other career related changes.
Why Hire A Career Transition Coach?
Most clients come to us for one of three reasons:
- Starting a career
- Changing career
- Making a significant change within your existing career
Below we examine each of these scenarios that lead people to searching for coaching help for careers.
Starting A Career
Whether you are graduating from High School, College, Trade School or are just wanting to get out of your low paying, dead end job, starting a career can be monumentally difficult. There are multiple elements of life that change and require adjustment. New people, new processes, different disciplines, learning the politics and deciding how you want to "show up" to your new employer are all considerations that need to be taken into account and can be very stressful. Navigating the path through this to a comfortable, consistent and fulfilling work day is where coaching comes in.
There are several reasons one might change careers. From downsizing, to physical limitations or just simple job burnout (see the section below on burnout), sometimes we are faced with the fact that we just can't do what we used to do as a career 15 years ago. Sometimes at what should be to peak of our career, we are faced with making a change. These can be the hardest ones to make because there are so many life plans and expectations that have been tied to this career. It IS possible though and we CAN help you get through it.
Significant Changes To Your Career
You have a job, you are doing awesome, getting great performance reviews and your boss thinks you would be a great team lead, supervisor, assistant manager, manager, director or new VP! Wonderful! But that's a lot of stress. How to cope with the new position, the new leadership, the new dynamics within the same company you have been with. All these things are stressors that we are here for you through. That's what coaches do!
Burnout happens for a variety of reasons. Burnout is the loss of meaning in one's work, coupled with mental, emotional, or physical exhaustion as the result of long-term, unresolved stress, but if you are experiencing burnout, we don't need to express it here.
